Anticipation can sometimes outweigh content- that’s why Americans love movie previews so much, and often times by the 3^rd preview forget what movie they initially came to the theater for. It’s often comparable to opening acts for comedians, and though I have only adorned the stand-up stage a hand full of times, I can apprise the value of opening acts / enticing previews as a complimentary introduction to the feature.

What this post is regarding is the last film I was in, a MEN Films short- “Call Girls” only 15 minutes in length, the entire picture seems like a precursor to a story that has been lived / told millions of times over. Judging from the trailer at the top of the page you get the gist of things: Boy back from college, nerdy leading man, sexually strong female (younger)… (way younger), police, a night of wrong turns, and awkward circumstances, etc…

Mike Nikola (UCF Grad / MEN Films CEO) along with Producers of the film Mark Annuziata, & Brittany Hopple devoted copious amounts of time to this project for no academic requirement, no immediate financial gain, only to create something that they could be proud of- pretty rare if you ask me, at least compared to most men and women of our generation.

Among a promising crew,  excitable cast, and sleepless nights in Central FL, “Call Girls” helped me get in touch with myself (as a nerd) haha, and really uncover all of the situations that I put myself in over the years- I have been Craig before, and will probably play him again in my real life, but then again, so have you.

Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 once said that “everyone should be in a band at some stage in their life.” Well, I’m saying the same thing, but rather than pick up a guitar, or drum sticks look at a script, and try and ignore the camera as you become something, someone that you’re not comfortable with- then, then you’ll understand yourself.
